Op Hemelvaartsdag (Latijn: Ascensionis Domini) vieren christenen dat Christus na de kruisiging en opstanding ten hemel is gevaren (zie voor een nadere toelichting van de godsdienstige betekenis het artikel Hemelvaart). Hemelvaartsdag valt op de veertigste dag gerekend vanaf Eerste Paasdag, waardoor de datum elk jaar anders is. Wel valt Hemelvaartsdag altijd op een donderdag. Hemelvaartsdag valt tien dagen vóór Pinksteren.
In vele landen, waaronder België, Colombia, Denemarken, Duitsland, Finland, Frankrijk, Groenland, Haïti, IJsland, Indonesië, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Madagaskar, Namibië, Nederland, Noorwegen, Oostenrijk en Zwitserland, is Hemelvaartsdag een vrije dag midden in de week. Daarom wordt de vrijdag erna ook vaak vrij genomen. Veel christenen zullen een kerkdienst of mis bezoeken. In andere landen, bijvoorbeeld Hongarije, Italië, Polen, Portugal en Spanje, viert men deze dag de zondag erna.

Hemelvaartsdag valt op de 39e dag na Pasen, geteld vanaf de maandag, en 10 dagen voor Pinksteren. De vroegst mogelijke datum is 30 april, de laatst mogelijke 3 juni. Hieronder volgt een tabel van die data.

This article is about the Ascension of Jesus Christ.
General understanding of the Christian doctrine of Ascension holds that Jesus bodily ascended to heaven in the presence of his apostles, following his resurrection. The term heaven is generally believed, by practicing Christians, as referring to a physical reunion with God the Father, as opposed to a spiritual transformation and experience of the Divine which is common to the mystical traditions of other world religions. It is narrated in Mark 16:19, Luke 24:50-51, Acts 1:9-11, and Ephesians 4:7-13


Feast
The Ascension is one of the great feasts in the Christian liturgical calendar, and commemorates the bodily Ascension of Jesus into Heaven. Ascension Day is always Thursday (the fortieth day of Easter); in some Novus Ordo churches (especially in the United States) it is commemorated on the subsequent Sunday (the Sunday before Pentecost). The three days before Ascension Thursday are sometimes referred to as the Rogation days (and the previous Sunday, the Fifth Sunday after Easter, as Rogation Sunday).

Para o consenso da maioria dos cristãos, a doutrina da Ascensão afirma que o corpo de Jesus de Nazaré, depois de quarenta dias da sua Ressurreição, na presença das testemunhas dos apóstolos, ascendeu aos céus onde se encontrou na presença de Deus Pai, não só em espírito, mas também em sua pessoa humana (corpo e alma). Diário da DY:

Hoje o dia está chuvoso (que novidade!) por aqui. Estamos em casa literalmente sentados no sofá sem fazer nada. Por quê? porque amanhã também será feriado. Pelo menos pra mim, pois a empresa é americana e comemora tb o dia. Teremos o dia livre. Os meninos não terão aula e maridovisk tirou folga para acompanhar a família sortuda.
Enfim, amanhã diz a meteorologia que teremos sol. Será? Espero que sim pois assim poderemos fazer um passeio.
Minha opção: Shopping mall lindo cheio de lojas abertas para mim he he he
Opção dos kids: Ficar em frente do computador até os dedos fazerem calos.
Opção do maridovisk: fazer o mesmo que os kids no computador dele, é claro.

Today is rainning (is that news?) here. We are at home literally seated in the sofa without doing anyhing. For what!? because tomorrow it will be also holiday. At least for me, therefore the company is American and celebrates the day too. We will have the free day. The boys will not have lessons and maridovisk took a day off to follow the lucky family. At last, tomorrow it says meteorology that we will have sun. really? I hope so therefore thus we will be able to go out.
My option: Shopping mall pretty full of stores opened for me he he he
Option of kids: To be in front of the computer until the fingers burn.
Option of maridovisk: to make the same of kids in his computer, off course.

What it goes to be made tomorrow?
Shopping... hahahha this is the dutch world and its wonders...
